Bahama Mama Tropical Smoothie Calories:
If you are buying a bahama mama smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe, each serving will have the following calories per serving:
- Calories: 500
- Fat: 4.5g
- Sugar: 110g
- Carbs: 117g
The carbs and sugar content are insanely high, which is why you are much better off making your own Bahama mama smoothie.
The calories aren’t as high as you might think on the homemade version. Yes, we have got white chocolate, but only 2 teaspoons of it.
Each serving contains:
- Calories: 266
- Fat: 4.4g

- Carbs: 35.8g
As you can see, the calories of the homemade version are much lower than the original smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
Homemade smoothies are just miles healthier and lower in calories.

Copycat Bahama Mama Tropical Smoothie Recipe Notes
The recipe may seem straightforward, but there are some key things you need to keep in mind when making this recipe.
- Use Frozen Fruit: You must use frozen fruit rather than fresh in this recipe. Otherwise, you won’t achieve that thick refreshing taste and consistency.
- White Chocolate Is Key: Don’t skip the white chocolate! White chocolate brings this copycat version so close to the original recipe of Tropical Smoothie.
- Avoid Adding Too Much Liquid: Use the amount of liquid provided in the ingredient list. Adding too much will make the smoothie thinner, which isn’t the right bahama mama smoothie consistency.
- You Can Swap The Coconut Water: While I strongly suggest that you use coconut water, I have tried using almond milk instead, and the smoothie tastes almost just as good.
How To Melt The White Chocolate For The Smoothie:
If you have never melted chocolate before, here’s how to melt the white chocolate for the recipe:
- The Microwave Method: Add the chocolate to a microwave-safe dish (I like to use a ceramic tea cup) and place it in the microwave for 1 minute, stopping every 15 seconds and stirring.
- The Hob Method: Using a small saucepan, add enough water to only cover 1/3 of the pan. Bring to a gentle boil. Add a bowl that can sit on top of the saucepan, and add the chocolate. Stir with a wooden spoon until melted.
Recipe FAQs
This copycat tropical smoothie recipe was a hit on my TikTok channel.
Naturally, it attracted lots of questions too, so here are some of the most popular ones:
Can I Use Whole Chocolate Instead Of Melted?
I do not recommend using whole white chocolate chunks in this smoothie, even if you have a very powerful blender, like a Vitamix. It simply won't get incorporated as well as melted chocolate.
I Don't Have Pineapple - Can I Use Other Fruit?
Yes, you can use mango instead of pineapple, although mango has a different taste, which means this copycat version simply won't taste as close as the original smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
Is Bahama Mama Tropical Smoothie healthy?
The homemade copycat Bahama Mama smoothie has healthy elements to it, but it's certainly not a superfood. It contains vitamins from the fruit, and can help boost your energy!
