Sometimes you need a simple Easy Classic Shortbread Recipe to make for your family.
You can’t beat the king of cookies – shortbread has been a family favorite since we can remember.
The base of almost every cookie is made out of butter, sugar, and flour that’s what shortbread is. It’s the starter of every cookie recipe!
What’s the secret to making the best shortbread?
The secrets are first – the butter! Use good quality butter, not any substitutions of butter. You want to have this buttery taste in your mouth when you eat the shortbread. Butter is the star of the show.
The second secret is not overworking the dough (aka the gluten) When the dough comes together, that’s when you want to stop. No need to mess about, no need to over-knead/overwork the dough. Once the dough comes together, just roll it out straight away, and cut the desired shapes. That’s it!
What are the ingredients to a perfect shortbread?
1. Butter
2. Sugar
3. Flour
These 3 ingredients if all you need! We like to make everything by hand. Beat sugar and butter together until creamy, then add the flour. Mix until it forms a dough ( We like to get our hands in there )
Place the dough onto a floured surface and roll. it should be thick but not too thick if that makes sense. Using cookie cutters, cut the desired shapes, then sprinkle some extra sugar and bake. Job done.
