Recipe Customizations

There are numerous different variations that you can try.

When I developed the recipe, I tested different ingredient combinations and more.

If you are interested in trying out something different, here are some of my successful variations of this recipe which I think you will love:

#1. Add a Melted Chocolate Shell!

You must have seen popular videos of melting chocolate and letting it set on top of smoothie bowls or other desserts.

You can do the same with this cookie dough smoothie bowl.

Here’s how:

  • Melt 4-5 squares of dark chocolate in the microwave with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
  • Drizzle the chocolate on top of the smoothie bowl, and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until it hardens. You may need to add it to the freezer for a couple of minutes if it’s not hardening fast enough.
  • Crack the top with a spoon and dig in!

#2. Drink It – Don’t Scoop It!

If you don’t have the time to sit down and enjoy a smoothie bowl, you can make it a drinkable consistency.

To make it a drinkable consistency simply add 1/4 cup more liquid than the recipe stated.

#3. Go Crazy With The Toppings

As you can see from the images, I didn’t add too many smoothie bowl toppings, I kept it quite minimalistic.

However, the smoothie bowl can be topped with all your favorite toppings.

Some ideas include:

  • Healthy cookie dough balls.
  • Crushed chocolate chip cookies.
  • Sprinkles.
  • Sliced fruit.
  • Smooth nut butter.
  • Nuts and seeds.
  • Cinnamon.
  • A tablespoon of chocolate spread or cookie butter.

Other Optional Changes:

Some other changes  you can make to this smoothie bowl recipe include:

  • Don’t like bananas? Use frozen mango chunks instead.
  • Make a high-protein cookie dough smoothie by adding a scoop of protein powder!
  • Don’t have coconut flour? Use a tablespoon of oats or flaxseeds.
  • Swap the peanut butter for cashew butter.
  • Feeding two? Double the recipe!
