Orange And Turmeric Smoothie Benefits

Even though this smoothie only contains a handful of ingredients, each ingredient provides benefits and nutrients

Oranges are packed with vitamin C for example, which help boost your immune system.

But this turmeric detox smoothie has many other benefits to offer too, such as:

  • Rich in Vitamin C: The fresh orange provides a significant amount of vitamin C, which is essential for a healthy immune system, skin, and overall well-being.
  • Good Source of Potassium: The bananas used in the smoothie are rich in potassium, which can help maintain healthy blood pressure and support proper muscle function.
  • Antioxidant Properties: Turmeric powder contains curcumin, a powerful antioxidant that may have anti-inflammatory and health-promoting effects.
  • Hydration: The coconut water used as the base of the smoothie, is a natural electrolyte-rich beverage that helps maintain hydration and provides essential minerals like potassium and sodium.
  • Fiber: The smoothie contains fiber from the banana and orange, which can aid in digestion and promote a feeling of fullness.
  • Contains Anti-Inflammatory Benefits: Turmeric is known for its potential anti-inflammatory properties, which may have various health benefits.
  • May Help With Skin Health: The vitamin C from the orange can contribute to healthier, more vibrant skin.
  • May Aid Weight Loss: The smoothie is low in calories, but quite filling. It also helps speed up your metabolism, which can help you burn more calories at rest.

How To Make Detox Orange Turmeric Smoothie:

Anti-Inflammatory Orange And Turmeric Smoothie being poured into a round glass cup from a blender jug

This delicious turmeric and orange smoothie only requires a handful of healthy ingredients and it’s done in under 5 minutes.

The smoothie is also naturally dairy-free and vegan!

These are the ingredients you are going to need:

  • Fresh Orange
  • Frozen Banana Slices
  • Turmeric
  • Coconut Water

First off, you will need a frozen banana!
The way I freeze bananas is by peeling them, and breaking them into chunks or slicing them, then freezing them.

If you freeze the whole banana, your blender will struggle to process it. It’s always best to have frozen banana slices rather than a whole banana.

Once you have your frozen banana ready and the other ingredients as well, simply add them to a blender and blend everything until completely smooth.

Recipe Variations And Alternative Ingredients

I made multiple different variations of this recipe using a mix of different ingredients.

So, if you have different ingredients available to you, or simply want a different-tasting smoothie, below you will find some options:

  • For a mango, or orange turmeric smoothie, use frozen mango chunks instead of bananas.
  • You can add honey to the smoothie for more sweetness, but it means this smoothie will not be vegan-friendly.
  • For more protein in this smoothie, you can add 1/3 cup of Greek yogurt, and if you are vegan, you can add a scoop of vegan protein powder.
  • Instead of coconut water, you can use dairy-free milk or even plain water.
  • For a more powerful detox and benefits, you can also add 1/3 tsp of minced ginger root!
