Smoothie Variations & Recipe Notes

Keto Blueberry Smoothie being poured into a small glass cup from a blender jug

When I first shared this smoothie recipe with one of my keto friends, they enjoyed it but said that the carbs per serving were a bit high.

If the carbs per serving bother you, I will leave a few ways to cut them down, and other variations of this smoothie you may like to try:

  1. Lower The Carb Content: Cut the blueberries to 1/4 cup instead of 1/2 cup. Although, be aware, that this will significantly cut the sweetness of the smoothie.
  2. Make The Smoothie Sweeter: Keep the smoothie keto-friendly, but make it sweeter with stevia, or keto syrups.
  3. Boost The Protein Content: Add a scoop of unflavored collagen powder for extra protein and nutrients.
  4. Swap The Nut Butter: For seeds, such as chia or flaxseeds. To keep the smoothie nut-free, is oat or soy milk instead. Just make sure it’s unsweetened.

Blender:

Blender Type: Suitability:
Nutribullet 600
Vitamix Blender Propel 510
BlendJet 4000mAh
Ninja Blender BL610
Oster 6640 Blender
Hamilton Beach 58148A Blender
AMZChef Blender 1800 W
Wamife Blender

Even though the smoothie comes out quite thick, it’s relatively easy to blend.

Even my lowest-speed blender (the Blendjet 4000mAh) did a great job when I tested it.

Storage:

#1. How long will this smoothie keep in the refrigerator?

This blueberry smoothie is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Make sure it’s stored in an airtight container and give it a good stir or shake before drinking, as separation often occurs.

#2. Can I freeze this smoothie for later use?

Yes, you can make this smoothie in advance and store it in the freezer in an airtight container or an ice cube tray. When you’re ready to enjoy it, let it thaw slightly for a smooth consistency.

If it’s cubed, add the cubes directly to a blender with a bit of milk, and blend!
