Smoothie Variations And Recipe Notes:

Kiwi Spinach Smoothie being poured into a glass cup from a blender jug

  1. No Banana Version: Swap the banana for pineapple, mango, or other fruit you like or have.
  2. Use Frozen Spinach: Frozen spinach is great in smoothies. It thickens them, and also helps create a deeper green color!
  3. Add Superfoods: 1/2 teaspoon of matcha powder, chia seeds, and nut butters are a great addition to this smoothie.
  4. Add Avocado: Thicken the smoothie and add healthy fats by adding 1/2 avocado to the recipe.
  5. Swap The Coconut Water: If you don’t have coconut water, use unsweetened dairy-free milk instead.

The smoothie is relatively easy to blend. All my blenders worked well with this recipe, including my lower speed ones.

Storing The Smoothie

I recommend that you drink the smoothie immediately if possible, but you could store it for later too.

I just found that the consistency and taste of the smoothie changes if stored.

Refrigerate:

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge and consume within 24 hours. Stir before drinking if it’s separated.

Freeze:

  • Pour into an airtight container, leaving space for expansion, and freeze for up to 1 month.
  • Alternatively, freeze in ice cube trays for easy portioning. Blend the frozen cubes when ready to drink
