Smoothie Variations & Recipe Notes

Passion Fruit Berry Smoothie being poured into a glass cup

One of the things I love about this smoothie is how easily it can be customized.

Whether you prefer a different fruit combination or love to add extra nutrients, there are multiple ways to customize it to your liking.

Some of the tested variations of this smoothie that I could offer include:

  1. Double Berry Smoothie: If you love berries, swap the pineapple in the recipe for another type of berry, such as raspberries or blackberries.
  2. Lighter Version: Coconut milk can be quite heavy, try using coconut water instead.
  3. Green Infusion: Throw in a handful of greens for a nutrient boost. I tested spinach, and loved it in this smoothie!
  4. Nutty Flavor: You can either swap the chia seeds for nut butter or add nut butter as an extra ingredient. I tested cashew butter and peanut butter. I preferred the cashew butter better.
  5. Protein Boost: You can add 1/2 cup of yogurt or a scoop of protein powder.

Ninja Blender BL610
Oster 6640 Blender x
Hamilton Beach 58148A Blender
AMZChef Blender 1800 W
Wamife Blender

To make it work with the Oster blender which isn’t compatible with my recipe, you can make it work by adding 1/3 cup extra coconut milk.

Oster blender struggled to make a thick smoothie like mine came out. It required a bit more liquid.

Recipe FAQs:

Can I Use Yogurt Instead Of Coconut Milk?

You can use yogurt instead of coconut milk, but it will make the smoothie very thick, and you will need a powerful blender. You can easily thin the smoothie down by adding a couple of tablespoons of water. Blend, taste and adjust as needed.

Is This Passionfruit Smoothie Good For Weight Loss?

I have not personally tested this smoothie for weight loss purposes. However, whenever I consumed the smoothie, it filled me for a couple of hours. Satiety is an important factor for weight loss. So, it could help with weight loss in that regards.

Can I Use Passionfruit Juice Instead Of Fresh Passionfruit?

Yes, you could swap the fresh passionfruit and use a cup of passionfruit juice instead of the coconut milk. If you use the 2 liquids, the smoothie will be too thin.
