Probiotics are so important for the health of our gut. Gut health leads to the overall health of your body and how you feel, our gut needs to be looked after.
All the processed food we eat and the stress that occurs to us on a daily basis, take a massive toll on our gut health.
So, if you are on a journey of improving your gut health, then the best place to start is by drinking a probiotic smoothie.
We decided to go for quality yogurt, rather than anything else that’s fancy (like kombucha). Yogurt is relatively cheap too, and our gut definitely loves yogurt!
How To Choose Gut-Healthy Yogurt
When you go to your grocery store, there is an abundance of yogurts. Which one is the best?
Look for yogurts that are plain, unsweetened, and ideally with fat.
The best yogurt you can get is one that is pasteurized first, then fermented.
If it’s vice versa, what happens is, the yogurt gets fermented, then pasteurized, and the pasteurizing process, unfortunately, kills the healthy bacteria.
Stay away from sweetened and flavored yogurts. Even ones sweetened with artificial sweeteners. Some studies have been done on the effect of artificial sweeteners and how they affect our gut health, and some of the findings are not good, so stay clear of them.
