Today, we have a very unique smoothie recipe. We know what your initial reaction will be, you will think we are crazy, but you will need to make it and try it before you judge us!
So, today we made a vegetarian protein smoothie, with no protein powder, and the protein source is…paneer! Crazy, right?
If you have never heard of paneer before, it’s a cooking cheese, often used in Indian recipes. It’s like Indian cottage cheese. It’s a none melting soft-ish cheese, that blends well and provides creaminess and protein to your smoothies.
Paneer doesn’t have a strong taste/flavor, which is perfect, because once blended with your other ingredients, you really cannot tell there was paneer added.
Say No To Protein Powders!
Not all protein powders are good for you. Some contain heavy metals and other stuff that your body is better off without.
Paneer contains quite a lot of protein, making it ideal for the protein source of your smoothie.
If you are a little bit unsure about the paneer in the smoothie, then you can substitute it for regular cream cheese, yogurt, etc, but we dare you to try it!
How To Make Paneer Smoothie
You will need:
- Paneer
- Peanut Butter
- Mango
- Chia Seeds
- Honey
- Coconut Milk
The smoothie packs a whooping 18.1g of natural vegetarian protein without the need for protein powders!
If you want to make this smoothie nut-free, substitute the peanut butter for sunflower seed butter instead!
To make this smoothie – add all the ingredients to a blender, and blitz!

Vegetarian Protein Smoothie
Equipment
- 1 Blender We used Ninja
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup/45g of paneer
- 1 tbsp of peanut butter
- 1/2 cup/75g of mango
- 1 tbsp of chia seeds
- 1 tsp of honey
- 1 cup/250ml of coconut milk
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a blender.
- Blend everything until completely smooth.
- Serve & Enjoy!
Notes
If you want to make this smoothie nut-free, substitute the peanut butter for sunflower seed butter instead!
