Why You Will Love This Nutella Smoothie Bowl

Nutella Smoothie Bowl with a wooden spoon in the middle

If you love Nutella, I don’t even have to tell you why you will love this smoothie bowl, BUT, this smoothie bowl is like eating Nutella ice cream.

It’s so indulging, sweet, and satisfying. On top of that, kids LOVE this smoothie bowl. I have tested it on my nieces, and honestly, it’s always a hit with them.

Other reasons include:

  1. Rich Flavor: Combining Nutella with strawberries and bananas creates a deliciously rich and satisfying taste that’s both sweet and slightly nutty.
  2. Texture Variety: The creamy smoothness of the Nutella and peanut butter contrasts beautifully with the slight iciness of the frozen fruit, providing a delicious texture and taste.
  3. Quick and Easy: This smoothie bowl is very easy to make, requiring just a few ingredients and a blender, making it perfect for a quick breakfast or snack.
  4. Customizable: You can easily customize this smoothie bowl by adding different toppings like granola, coconut flakes, or chia seeds, allowing for variety in your daily routine.
  5. Appealing Presentation: The vibrant colors from the strawberries and banana mixed with the creamy chocolate hue of Nutella make this smoothie bowl visually appealing and ‘Instagramable’.
  6. Satisfies Sweet Cravings: For those looking to indulge a sweet tooth, this smoothie bowl offers a satisfying solution without the need for traditional desserts.
  7. Versatile Meal Option: While it’s ideal for breakfast, this smoothie bowl also works well as a dessert or midday snack.

Smoothie Bowl Variations & Recipe Notes:

Nutella Smoothie being poured into a wooden bowl

You can change the chocolate smoothie bowl recipe easily should you want to.

Below are some suggestions:

  • Other Fruit: You can swap the banana for mango and strawberries for other berries.
  • Protein Boost: Incorporate a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder to increase the protein content.
  • Tropical Touch: Swap almond milk for coconut milk to enhance the tropical flavor.
  • Seed Boost: Stir in a tablespoon of flaxseeds or hemp seeds for added fiber and nutrients.
  • Green Power: Blend in a handful of baby spinach or kale without altering the Nutella taste significantly.

Top Smoothie Bowl-Making Tips:

  1. Consistency Control: Adjust the thickness of your smoothie bowl by varying the amount of almond milk. Use less milk for a thicker, spoonable texture, or add more if you prefer a more runny smoothie.
  2. Frozen Fruit Is a Must: This smoothie bowl cannot be made with fresh fruit. Make sure you have frozen fruit ready for the recipe.
  3. Serve Immediately: For the best texture and flavor, enjoy your smoothie bowl right after blending. This prevents the ingredients from separating or becoming too ‘liquidy’ as they sit.
  4. Custom Toppings: Get creative with toppings to add texture and flavor. Consider using coconut flakes, cacao nibs, sliced bananas, or a drizzle of honey for extra indulgence.
  5. Chill Your Bowl: Place your serving bowl in the freezer for a few minutes before adding your smoothie mixture. This helps keep everything cool and thick, especially on warm days.

Smoothie Bowl Toppings

Some toppings that work well with this Nutella smoothie bowl include:

  • Sliced Bananas: Adds a sweet, creamy texture that pairs perfectly with the chocolate and nut flavors.
  • Shredded Coconut: Provides a tropical twist and a crunchy contrast to the smooth base.
  • Chopped Hazelnuts: Enhances the nutty flavor of the Nutella and adds a satisfying crunch.
  • Cacao Nibs: Offer a rich chocolatey crunch that deepens the overall chocolate flavor without adding sweetness.
  • Fresh Strawberries: Their fresh, juicy flavor balances the richness of the Nutella and peanut butter, adding a burst of freshness and color.
  • Extra Nutella: Go Nutella-Crazy and drizzle extra Nutella on top of the bowl.
