Recipe Variations
There are numerous different ways to make this apple and raspberry smoothie.
When I was in the process of developing this raspberry smoothie recipe, I tested about 7 different variations, using a combination of different ingredients.
Some of the variations came out delicious, which is why I will leave the options for you below:
- For a vegan version of this drink, either use vegan yogurt (coconut is what I tested it with) or use 1/3 of avocado.
- Boost the protein content of the smoothie with a scoop of protein powder. I tested unsweetened and unflavored protein powder.
- Infuse tropical notes by swapping the apple juice for coconut water.
- Make the smoothie richer and more filling by adding a tablespoon of nut butter. I used almond butter when I tested it.
- To reduce the sugar content in this protein berry smoothie, use unsweetened almond milk instead of apple juice.
You can experiment with other flavor combinations if you like.

4 Recipe Top Tips!
To achieve the creamiest blend, here are some secrets you can steal from me to make this smoothie perfect!
- Dice the apples: It can be tempting to leave the apple quite chunky especially if you have a powerful blender. But cutting the apple into small pieces can help the blending process.
- Frozen fruit and apples should go first: So that they can be close to the blades. These ingredients are harder to blend, so they need to be close to the blades.
- Pre-chill Ingredients: For an extra refreshing smoothie, consider pre-chilling your apple or adding a handful of ice cubes to enhance the crisp and cool texture.
- Control texture with liquid amount: Adjust the quantity of liquid based on your desired smoothie consistency. Less liquid yields a thicker, spoonable smoothie, while more liquid creates a drinkable texture. Find the balance that suits your preference.
Questions From The Community
I shared a video recipe on my TikTok channel of this raspberry smoothie with apple and my followers there adored the recipe.
Some popular questions from the community included:
Can I Use Fresh Raspberries Instead Of Frozen?
Yes, you can use fresh raspberries, but the smoothie will not come out as thick as mine did. You may want to reduce the amount of liquid you add so you can balance the thickness.
Can I Use a Different Type Of Berry?
I have not personally tested using another berry for this specific recipe, but I have other recipes on my blog that combine apples with blueberries and strawberries, so I think you can definitely swap the berry.
Is This Raspberry Apple Smoothie Good For Weight Loss?
The smoothie contains 260 calories per serving, which is quite low, especially if you use the smoothie a meal replacement. So yes, technically the smoothie can support your weight loss goals.
