Is It OK To Mix Fruits And Vegetables In a Smoothie?
There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t mix both fruit and vegetables together in a smoothie.
In fact, mixing veggies with fruit in a smoothie is a great way to sneak vegetables you don’t particularly like the taste of, and boost the nutritional value of your smoothies.
Furthermore, adding vegetables to your smoothies is a great way to reduce the amount of sugar smoothies have. Most smoothies are made using predominately fruit.
Although fruit is good for you, it does contain quite a lot of sugar.
So, adding half-and-hals fruit and vegetables will allow you to achieve the same consistency, and get the same health benefits out of your smoothies, but for less sugar.
What Fruits And Vegetables Are Good To Blend Together?
Of course, not every fruit will work with every vegetable, and vice-versa, so here is a list of the best fruit and vegetables that work well together:
- Carrots Blend Well With – Banana, Melon, Orange, Mango, Avocado, Peaches, and Berries
- Sweet Potato Blends Well With – Pineapple, Mango, Apples, and Bananas
- Leafy Greens Blend Very Well With Most Fruit And Veggies – Berries, Apples, Mango, Pineapple, Coconut, Sweet Potato, Carrots, Melon, Bananas, etc.
- Cauliflower Blends Well With Bananas, Carrots, Mango, Avocado, Etc.
A general rule of thumb is, always combine watery fruit with starchy veggies or vice-versa, that have more texture.
E.g, peaches will work well with carrots, because carrots have texture to them whilst peaches are juicy and don’t hold much texture.
