Bok Choy Smoothie

If you are as health conscious as me, then adding vegetables to smoothies or other superfoods shouldn’t be a strange thing to you.

Bok choy’s main benefit in my opinion is its anti-aging benefits. It is one of the main reasons why I add it to my smoothies.

As someone who is approaching my 30s, I am becoming a lot more aware of aging, especially since I am a female.

Other reasons why you will love this smoothie include:

  • Rich in Vitamins and Minerals: The smoothie is loaded with vitamins A and C, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, it supports immune function, bone health, and muscle function.

Smoothie Variations & Recipe Notes

Green Bok Choy Smoothie

There are many possible variations of this recipe.

Here are some of my recommendations to change this smoothie recipe should you want to:

  • The Mango: Instead of frozen mango, use frozen blueberries or bananas.
  • The Base: Instead of coconut water, you can use regular water or even dairy-free milk. I have tried oat milk and soy milk, both worked great.
  • Apples: The apple can be substituted for berries, bananas, or other fruit of choice.
  • Caffeine Boost: If you are making this smoothie for breakfast, add 1/2 teaspoon of matcha powder for a gentle energy boost and extra antioxidants
  • Swap The Chia Seeds: Add a gentle nutty flavor by swapping the chia for a tablespoon of unsweetened almond butter!

Equipment:

Blender Type Suitability
Nutribullet 600
Vitamix Blender Propel 510
BlendJet 4000mAh
Ninja Blender BL610
Oster 6640 Blender
Hamilton Beach 58148A Blender
AMZChef Blender 1800 W
Wamife Blender

The smoothie is easy to blend, even my lowest-speed blenders did a pretty good job.

This means that even if you own a blender that has not been tested by me, I am confident that the recipe will work just fine with it.

Smoothie FAQs:

How to Use Bok Choy in Smoothies?

Can bok choy be eaten raw? Yes, bok choy can be eaten raw, and the best way to use bok choy in smoothies is by washing it well and chopping it. After the bok choy is chopped, add it to your blender first, so the blades can work on the bok choy first. Bok choy is relatively soft and easy to blend, so you won’t need a super powerful blender. If you are worried about bok choy overpowering the taste of the smoothie, worry not, because bok choy’s taste isn’t strong at all, but it’s very gentle and aromatic.

Can I Use Any Variety Of Bok Choy For This Smoothie?

Yes, both baby bok choy and regular bok choy work well in this smoothie. Baby bok choy is slightly sweeter and more tender, making it a great choice for smoothies.

When Is The Best Time To Drink This Bok Choy Smoothie?

The timing doesn't really matter. Although, I personally find it ideal in the morning.
