Do Dates Blend Well In Smoothies?

There are things you should know about blending dates.
Blends don’t blend well if you don’t prepare them right or have a strong enough blender.

Here are the steps to successfully blending dates:

  • #1. Pit The Dates.
  • #2. Soak The Dates In Water If They Are Too Hard For 5 Minutes.
  • #3. Use a Powerful Blender.
  • #4. Blend Long Enough. For About 5 Minutes.

Following these steps, you should be able to blend dates perfectly.

Should You Soak Dates For Smoothies?

Dates do not need to be soaked for smoothies, however, you will need to soak them in water in some instances.

For example, if you do not have a powerful blender, you need to soak the dates in hot water for a couple of minutes, then strain them.

Another instance where you will need to soak dates is if the dates you have bought are really dry. Typically, dates should have a softness to them.

In that case, they will require soaking in water to soften up, regardless of whether you have a powerful blender or not.

Recipe Variations:

I have a couple of optional recipe variations that you could try, in the case when you dislike certain ingredients or simply don’t have them at home.
Here they are:

  • For a chocolate date smoothie with no banana, use mango instead.
  • If you don’t like peanut butter, you can use almond butter instead.
  • If you are nut-free, you can use oat milk instead of almond milk, and substitute the nut butter for sunflower seed butter.

I hope you like this creamy and easy chocolate almond date smoothie. Any thoughts, or things you have tried that work better, feel free to drop us a comment below. I am here to learn, just like you.
