Different Variations Of This Smoothie You Can Try

I spent quite a lot of time developing this spinach and cucumber smoothie with apple because I was testing numerous different variations.

It’s so difficult to know when to stop and share the recipe.

This is why I love leaving other options and variations of each recipe, which I have personally tested.

Check them out below, you might like some of the options:

#1. Make It High Protein

a scoop of protein powder on the left and a bowl of cottage cheese on the right

The current recipe for apple cucumber ginger smoothie contains 3.2g of protein per serving, which isn’t a lot.

To boost the protein content of this smoothie, you have the following options:

  1. Add 1/2 cup of yogurt or cottage cheese (Only if you are not vegan!).
  2. Add 1-2 scoops of unsweetened and unflavored protein powder.
  3. Add 1-2 scoops of collagen powder.

#2. No Banana Apple And Cucumber Smoothie

I settled with the version that contains a banana because it helped thicken the smoothie.

The smoothie already has many ‘watery’ components, which need to be balanced by thickening ingredients.

However, a lot of my smoothie community on YouTube dislikes bananas. If this is the case with you, you can swap the banana for:

  • Frozen Mango.
  • Frozen Pineapple.
  • Frozen Berries.

The quantity should be the same – 1 cup!

To make the smoothie low in sugar, use 1/2 large avocado.

#3. Make It Richer

almond butter on the left and diced avocado on the right

A common trend with green smoothies is the fact that they can taste quite refreshing, but nothing else is going on.

This is why I often like to add nut butter or a healthy fat source to my smoothies.

Some options include:

  1. A tablespoon of almond butter.
  2. 1/4 avocado.
  3. A tablespoon of chia seeds.
  4. 1/4 cup of full-fat yogurt.

Do note that the ingredients listed above are to be added as an addition to the original recipe to enhance the richness of the smoothie.

On top of that, these ingredients will also increase the satiety aspect and help curb cravings and hunger for hours.
