Smoothie Variations & Recipe Notes

Green Apple Ginger Smoothie being poured into a glass cup

I have been making this recipe for several years now, and I love trying new things each time I make it.

Below I will leave some of my favorite variations of this recipe you could try:

  1. The Ginger: In cases when you don’t have fresh ginger root, swap it for 1/3 tsp of ground dried ginger.
  2. Add Some Protein: Incorporate 1/2 cup of cottage cheese or yogurt if you are not dairy-free.
  3. The Pineapple: Can be swapped for mango, berries, or banana. Just make sure the fruit is frozen.
  4. Caffeine Boost: Add 1/3 teaspoon of matcha powder for an energizing antioxidant boost.
  5. Nutrient Boost: Add a tablespoon of chia seeds for extra fiber, protein, and plant-based omega-3s.

My Oster blender and Blendjet struggled to blend the smoothie smooth enough, which is why I do not recommend using these two blenders for this recipe.

The other blenders on my list did a wonderful job.
