This fruity citrus purple cabbage smoothie is not only tasty but also super nutritious.

It combines fresh natural ingredients which all contribute to benefits, and unique flavors of their when, which all mingle very well harmoniously in this drink.

Here’s why I think you will love this smoothie as much as I do:

  • Unique Flavor Profile: The combination of sweet apple with the mild peppery flavor of red cabbage creates a unique and enjoyable flavor profile, appealing to those looking for something different from the usual green smoothie.

  • Natural Energy Boost: With natural sugars from the apple and hydration from the coconut water, this smoothie provides a healthy, energizing boost without the need for caffeine or added sugars.

Optional Recipe Changes & Smoothie Notes

There are several different customizations you can make to this recipe should you want to.

Here is a list of some customizations you can make based on my own experimentations:

  1. Swap The Apple: If apple isn’t your favorite fruit in smoothies, you can add creamier fruits, such as banana, mango, or pineapple.
  2. Add Protein: You can add protein to the smoothie by incorporating protein powder, or yogurt. However, adding these ingredients will not only change the taste of the smoothie but change the dietary suitability.
  3. Greens: You can incorporate leafy greens such as watercress, kale, or spinach, and still keep this smoothie raw but add more nutrients.
  4. Nutty Boost: Add a tablespoon of nut butter, such as almond butter for a creamier nutty smoothie.

Since cabbage is not easy to break down, you will require a powerful blender.

The cheapest high-speed blender I can suggest that you invest in is a Nutribullet-600.

If you have a higher budget, definitely invest in a Vitamix Blender though!

Smoothie FAQs:

Is It Necessary To Use Coconut Water? Can I Use Regular Water Or Another Liquid?

Coconut water is chosen for its electrolytes and mild sweetness, but you can substitute it with regular water or almond milk. Each alternative will change the flavor of the drink slightly, so choose based on your taste preference and nutritional goals.

How can I Make The Smoothie Sweeter Without Adding Sugar?

If you find the smoothie needs additional sweetness, consider adding a natural sweetener like stevia or a bit more apple. A ripe banana can also add sweetness while providing a creamy texture.

How Do I Store Leftover Blended Cabbage Smoothie?

For fridge storage, place the smoothie in a sealed container or a mason jar and consume it within 24 hours to enjoy its freshness and nutritional benefits. If you prefer to freeze it, pour the smoothie into ice cube trays or a freezer-safe container. Frozen smoothie cubes can be blended again for a quick, icy drink, ideal for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge if using a container, and give it a good stir or blend before enjoying.
