Apple Strawberry Smoothie Benefits

Both apples and strawberries are incredibly good for your health.

But this smoothie isn’t just made with these two ingredients, it contains other healthy ingredients too, which add to the health benefits of this delicious smoothie!

Let’s take a look at the benefits of this apple and strawberry smoothie:

  • Nutrient Dense: The smoothie provides a wide range of essential nutrients, including vitamins (such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and B-complex vitamins), minerals (such as manganese, phosphorus, and magnesium), dietary fiber, and healthy fats.
  • Antioxidant-rich: The combination of apple, strawberries, and almond butter supplies a significant amount of antioxidants
  • Digestive health: The fiber content from apples, strawberries, and oats promotes healthy digestion, aids in regular bowel movements, and helps maintain a healthy gut
  • Energy and satiety: Oats, almond butter, and almond milk contribute to sustained energy levels due to their combination of complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and proteins. This can help keep you feeling fuller for longer, preventing excessive snacking and promoting weight management.
  • Heart health: The ingredients in the smoothie, including strawberries, oats, almond butter, and almond milk, contain heart-healthy nutrients.
  • Immune support: The smoothie contains vitamin C from strawberries and apple, which supports immune function and helps fight off infections.
  • Skin health: The combination of antioxidants, healthy fats (including omega-3 fatty acids in almond butter), and vitamin E from almond butter and almond milk can contribute to healthy skin by promoting elasticity, and hydration, and protecting against oxidative damage.
  • Supports Weight Loss: The smoothie is low in calories and high in fiber. Fiber helps keep you feeling full for longer. The same aplies for fat, which comes from the almond butter in this smoothie.

If you enjoy this smoothie as much as I do, I am pretty sure you will also enjoy my strawberry apple banana smoothie, and my leafy green banana strawberry smoothie!

Optional Recipe Variations & Smoothie Notes:

Here are some ideas:

  1. Apple Juice: If you don’t have fresh apples at home, but have apple juice, you can use apple juice instead of fresh apple and almond milk.
  2. Protein Boost: Add a scoop of unflavored and unsweetened protein powder for an extra 20g of protein. (I use brown rice powder which is vegan).
  3. Chocolate Flavored: Add a tablespoon of cocoa powder for a chocolatey twist.
  4. Vanilia: Add aromatic notes by incorporating 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Change The Berry: You can swap the strawberries for blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries.

Equipment:

Blender Type Suitability
Nutribullet 600
Vitamix Blender Propel 510
BlendJet 4000mAh x
Ninja Blender BL610
Oster 6640 Blender
Hamilton Beach 58148A Blender
AMZChef Blender 1800 W
Wamife Blender

I tested the BlendJet 4000mAh with this recipe, and it simply didn’t come out as smooth and tasty as the other blenders.

I found that the Blendjet couldn’t blend the oats well enough so the smoothie was a bit gritty.

If you do own Blendjet though, you can make the smoothie, but you will need to use chia seeds instead of oats.

The smoothie is suitable for a gluten-free diet only if you use certified gluten-free oats.

As for paleo, you will need to swap the oats for chia seeds.

Storing The Smoothie:

In The Fridge:

  • Once the smoothie is blended, pour it into an airtight container or a mason jar with a lid.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir well before consuming.

In The Freezer:

  • Pour the smoothie into an airtight container, leaving some space for expansion, or use a freezer-friendly bag.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or at room temperature for a few hours before enjoying. Shake or blend again if needed.
