Blueberry Oatmeal Smoothie Benefits

a side shot of a Blueberry Oatmeal

This oatmeal and blueberry smoothie for weight loss contains a mix of ingredients, all contributing to numerous benefits.

One of my personal favorite benefit is how quick and easy this smoothie is to make.

I love making this smoothie for breakfast!

Other benefits of this double berry smoothie include:

  1. Rich in Antioxidants: Blueberries and strawberries are high in antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and support overall health.
  2. High in Dietary Fiber: The fiber from oats, chia seeds, and berries aids in digestion, and promotes gut health.
  3. Source of Essential Nutrients: Chia seeds provide omega-3 fatty acids, important for heart health and brain function.
  4. Boosts Energy Levels: The combination of natural sugars from fruits and complex carbohydrates from oats provides sustained energy, making this smoothie a great choice for a breakfast or pre-workout drink.
  5. Heart Health Benefits: The soluble fiber in oats and chia seeds can help in managing cholesterol levels, beneficial for heart health.
  6. Immune System Support: High Vitamin C content from strawberries and blueberries supports the immune system.

Berry smoothies in general are so good for you, but when you add oats, chia seeds and other healthy ingredients, the benefits only increase!

Tasty Recipe Variations

I have been making this blueberry smoothie with oats for a long time now.

Each time I make it, I like to try something different, like swap an ingredient, or even add an ingredient!

Some tasty variations of this recipe you could try include:

  1. Add More Protein: A scoop of protein powder can add another 20-25g of protein to this smoothie. For a vegan smoothie, choose plant-based protein powder!
  2. Throw Some Greens: Watercress, kale, and spinach are leafy greens I have tested in this smoothie and all worked great. However, I personally loved adding watercress the most.
  3. Nutty Berry-Licious: Berries and oats work very well with nuts, so why not add a tablespoon of creamy nut butter, like almond or peanut butter?
  4. Chocolate Delight: Adding a tablespoon of cocoa powder can make this smoothie chocolate-flavored for only 12 calories extra!
  5. Tropical Variations: Swap the strawberries for pineapple or mango, and use coconut milk instead of oat milk!

What Blenders Work With This Smoothie?

If you have a Vitamix or a Nutribullet, you have nothing to worry about.

However, if you own a blendjet blender or an Oster blender, you may not be able to make this smoothie the same consistency.

See the full list below:

Blender Model: Suitability:
Nutribullet 600
Vitamix Blender Propel 510
BlendJet 4000mAh X
Ninja Blender BL610
Oster 6640 Blender X
Hamilton Beach 58148A Blender
AMZChef Blender 1800 W
Wamife Blender

If you own an Oster or a BlenJet blender, you can still make this smoothie, you will just need to use a lot more liquid.

If you like your smoothies thin anyway, give the recipe a go using these 2 types of blenders!

Recipe FAQs:

Can I Add Yogurt To The Smoothie?

Yes, you can add yogurt, however, if you use dairy yogurt, the smoothie will no longer be vegan.

I Don't Have Chia Seeds - What Can I Use Instead?

What Is The Best Time To Drink This Smoothie?

If you are trying to lose weight, I recommend that you drink this smoothie for breakfast, as a meal replacement.
