Smoothies For Energy

How Can I Boost My Energy When Tired?

When you need an increase of energy when you feel sluggish in the afternoon, or in the morning, there are a couple of things you can do to boost your energy.

We are going to break them down into 2, the first being healthier ways to boost your energy, and the second being not-so-healthy options:

#1. Healthy Ways To Boost Your Energy

  • Black Coffee
  • Matcha Lattes
  • Smoothies
  • Get Enough Sleep
  • Herbal Teas
  • Have Some High Energy Fruit (e.g bananas, avocados, apples, dried fruit, etc)
  • Cut Down On Processed Food
  • Go On A Walk
  • Eat More Whole Foods
  • Drink Water
  • Try Maca

And others.

#2. Not So Healthy Ways To Boost Energy

  • Eat An Energy Bar
  • Drink Coffee With Sugar
  • Drink a Glass Of Fruit Juice
  • Have an Energy Drink
  • Drink Coca Cola
  • Iced Tea
  • Have a Bowl Of Cereal

And others.

Which one would you choose?

What Should I Drink First In The Morning For Energy?

The answer might surprise you, so here it is –  a glass of water. Yes, water.

If you thought the answer would be coffee or tea, you are wrong. After a whole night of fasting, with no water or food,  your body is dehydrated.

Drinking a glass of cold water will give you energy, wake your digestive system, and prepare you for the day.

After you have had some water, ideally have some solid food, before you reach for the caffeine.

Drinking caffeine on an empty stomach, even after water will not do you well, especially if you are prone to heartburn.

Are Smoothies a Good Source Of Energy?

Smoothies are a wonderful source of energy, furthermore, they are also a great way to get your daily dose of fresh fruit and veg, as well as minerals and vitamins.

Smoothies typically contain fruit, and fruit has fructose (sugar) which increases your energy.

However, fruit sugar is not the same as white processed sugar, eating fruits does not spike your blood sugar, and then crash it.

If you are wondering what to add to smoothies for energy, here is a quick list:

  • Spinach / Kale / Collard Greens
  • Bananas
  • Dried Fruit
  • Matcha Powder
  • Coffee
  • Seeds
  • Nuts

And many others too. You can also add grains, such as quinoa and rice. Rice in smoothies is so good by the way!
