Kiwis are so good for you. And yet, they are not a super popular fruit. Not because it doesn’t have many benefits, but I suppose because it hasn’t been marketed as much.
For example, we have all been marketed how good oranges are and their high amounts of Vitamin C, when in fact, kiwis have more Vitamin C than oranges…so shouldn’t we have kiwi juice instead for breakfast?
Well, we do! We start the day often with a cup of kiwi smoothie instead of your traditional glass of orange juice.
Are Kiwi Smoothies Good For You?
Kiwis have many health benefits. But kiwi smoothies combined with other healthy ingredients make the ultimate smoothie in providing your body with essential vitamins and minerals.
Kiwi smoothies are really good for you, and tend to provide you with the majority of Vitamin C you need for the whole day!
What Fruit Mixes Well With Kiwi?
Obviously, when it comes to making smoothies, you will need to mix a combination of ingredients.
So, what works well with kiwis? Here’s the list:
- Strawberries
- Pineapple
- Banana
- Spinach
- Avocado
- Lemon
- Lime
- Chia Seeds
- Apples
- Mango
- Oats
- Cucumber
- Watermelon
And the list goes on.
Do You Peel Kiwi For Smoothies?
You don’t need to peel kiwis for your smoothies. In fact, peeling your kiwis will remove some important nutrients. The kiwi skin is rich in fiber.
However, we tend to peel the kiwi’s skin if the kiwis are not organic. If they are organic, we tend to keep the skin. But ultimately, it’s up to you.
If you are worried that the blender won’t be able to break the skin, trust us, it will. We have used pretty much blenders in the past, and they have done the job.
The only thing you need to do is trim the edges.
How Do You Cut a Kiwi For a Smoothie?
The method is very simple. If you are not peeling them, then you will need to trim the hard bit that’s typically located where the stem used to be.
Cut that with a knife.
Then do the following:
- Cut the kiwi in half (lengthways)
- Then cut each half kiwi half again
- Finally cut the halves across (horizontally)
- You should end up with a total of 8 pieces from 1 kiwi.
Done!
